JamVOX 1.52 for Windows

Release Notes

JamVOX v1.52 Release Notes

Before installing software
Please do not connect the JamVOX Monitor to your computer before installing JamVOX Driver and Software.

- On some specific PC environments there may have been a lack of audio or audio dropouts with v1.50. This problem has been solved by returning to the audio driver of v1.11.

- The upgraded GXT function of v1.50 is now compatible with GXT programs made by the previous versions v1.11 or earlier. When you use pre v1.50 GXT programs, the program uses the previous algorithm. Once you edit it, it uses the new algorithm. Any GXT program created or edited & saved in v1.5x cannot be used in v1.11 or earlier.

Some minor bugs have also been fixed.

JamVOX v1.50 Release Notes

- The effect of center extracting has been improved by enhancing the algorithm of GXT. The following parameters have been added.

- "AREA" parameter: Two new curves have been added. The part panned to the center, left side or right side of the song can be extracted more widely.

- Algorithm selection: Switches the sound character.

- The usability of GXT has been enhanced. A new "Easy edit mode" has been added which enables you to set an instrument or a part which you want to extract, with simple steps. The steps are as follows.

1. Click [Edit] button to show the edit panel.

2. Select an instrument or a part which you want to extract from the "Instrument / Part" buttons located on the left side of the edit panel. Here are nine kinds of instruments or parts:

- Guitar Solo CLASSIC
- Guitar Solo MODERN
- Guitar Solo METAL
- Guitar Backing CLASSIC
- Guitar Backing MODERN
- Guitar Backing METAL
- Acoustic Guitar
- Bass
- Vocal

3. Play a song, then find and specify the panning which you want to extract by rotating a large dial located on the right side of the edit panel.

4. If the instrument or the part cannot be extracted, try to select other "Instrument/Part" buttons. In addition, when you want to edit the settings in more detail, click [Expert] button to show the existing edit panel. Regarding the settings, please refer to "Owner's manual" in the "Help" menu.

Note: GXT works by determining the sound's "stereo position" (panning) and "frequency band." This means that it won't be effective on monaural songs. Furthermore, other sounds in the same stereo position and frequency band will be cancelled as well. Also, the effect may be difficult to notice on some songs depending on how the guitar part has been mixed.

- "Tempo Change" function and "Pitch Change" function have been greatly enhanced. High-definition algorithm "élastique efficient V2" by zplane.development has been integrated into the JamVOX. You can change the tempo and the pitch with no loss of quality.

- Two new functions which enable you to save the settings of the "Pitch Change" function and "Tempo Change" function into each song have been added. You can change settings in the "Preferences" dialog - "Player" - "Save pitch change setting to a specific song" and "Save tempo change setting to a specific song". The default setting of "Save pitch change setting to a specific song" is set to on and the default setting of "Save tempo change setting to a specific song" is set to off.

- Three high-definition reverbs: HD-ROOM, HD-CHAMBER and HD-HALL have been added. You can get the reverberation you want easily by editing parameters customized for guitar. Regarding parameter settings, please refer to "Effect Guide" in the "Help" menu.

- UMPC's and Netbook's are now supported. Below is a list of models that are supported:
- ASUS Eee PC 901-X

- The usability of keyboard shortcuts has been improved by reassigning the shortcut keys. For details, please refer to “Keyboard Shortcuts” in the “Help” menu.

The default setting for this is on.
Note: When using the PCs which support 1,024 x 600 or lower display resolution like UMPC’s and Netbook’s, the default setting is set to off.

- Some PC users running Windows may have experienced a pop/click noise problem. This problem has been improved.

- The pop/click noise problem can be caused by various factors depending on computer configuration. Two new features have been added to JamVOX that can help to reduce the noise.

1. Adjustment to set process priority to high
The noise may be reduced by raising the process priority of the software to high. You can adjust this setting in the "Preferences" dialog - "Hardware/Performance" - "Set process priority to high". The default setting is off.

2. Setting to limit the number of CPUs
If you are using a PC that supports multi-core/multi-processor, the noise may be reduced by limiting the number of CPUs. You can make adjustments to this setting in the "Preferences" dialog - "Hardware/Performance" - "Select CPU :".
NOTE: This setting only affects JamVOX.

- When "Adjust for best performance" is unselected in the Windows OS settings, a dialog box appears on start-up. If you experience pop/click noise, please follow the instructions in this dialog.

NOTE: The previous stored setting is initialized after applying this version. If you wish to change the setting, you can adjust it in the "Preferences" dialog - "Hardware/Performance" - "Response".
